Happy Birthday Bob

Today is Bob's 63rd birthday.  We spent the morning grocery shopping.  This afternoon he spent planting a flower bed and trimming the spires around our back porch.  I cooked a birthday dinner of pork tenderloin in green peppercorn sauce, crispy potato cake and zucchini parmesan crisps and we had a glass of white wine.  Later we will have some ice cream.  I am waiting for him to get off the computer and come open his presents.

Tomorrow I am going to Kitchen Kettle in Intercourse,PA with Shirley and CJ.  Should be a good day.

Late Spring in our garden

Yellowwood Tree - this tree has never looked this pretty in
all the years we have had it.

If you look hard you can see Bob through the branches of the Dogwood.
He is planting the vegetable garden.

After 3 days of our first heatwave of the year it is cool and cloudy here today.  Perfect day for Bob to be planting the vegetable garden.  He has planted most of our patio pots with just a few more to go.  I will post pictures of them once he has placed them in their spots.  Right now they are all clustered around the back porch.  Anyway while he was planting the vegetables I decided to decorate the ornament tree for the summer.  I didn't realize how many ornaments I have for that tree. They are a combination of patriotic and summer flowers with a few beach themed ornaments thrown in for good measure.  I want to stitch an ornament that says June for the top of the tree.  I already have July and August.  I also need to stitch a few other months but I'll worry about that next year.

Hope you enjoyed this little walk through my inside and outside gardens.

I have a busy week next week.  Monday is my annual physical, Tuesday my annual eye exam.  Wednesday I was looking forward to going to my monthly stitch group but it has been canceled.  However, Bob and I have been invited out to lunch.  Thursday I am taking Bob out to lunch to celebrate his birthday.  Friday is Bob's birthday.  Saturday I am going up to Kitchen Kettle with my sister and her daughter.  Sunday my sister and daughter are coming over for a cookout.  Monday I will have to cook Bob a birthday dinner unless he wants me to do it Friday night.  I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

Have a wonderful weekend and a good week.

Progress of Map of Scotland by Sue Hillis

I really don't have much more to finish on this project.  I have to finish the spool of thread, stitch the soccer ball (ugh) the water lines under the ship on the right side and the word Scotland.

I have had to cut way back on my stitching.  I think I have arthritis in the pointer finger of my left hand and I am left handed so after an hour or two of stitching the pain in that finger is unbearable.  I have a Doctor's appointment next Monday for my yearly physical so I will have him look at it and confirm it is arthritis.  I am positive that is what it is because it looks just like my Mother's fingers got toward the end of her life.  This getting old is a bitch.

I have a super busy week this week.  Today I went to Silver Sneakers,  tomorrow B and I have a lunch and meeting to go to.  Wednesday I go out to breakfast with the WOW group and then have a dentist appointment at 10:00.  Thursday I have a  hair cut at 9:00 and then lunch with my sister.  When do I get any cleaning done this week?

I wish I could figure out how to make a good slip stitch at the opening at the bottom of the ornament where I stuff it from.  I keep trying but it never turns out very nice.  I guess I will just have to practice, practice, practice.
